I love how Escher uses the surface of the water to create perspective, the top

boat appears to be in the distance whereas the bottom fish is up front.  This is Escher’s only print

with an animal tessellating with an object (there are two watercolors using the fish/boat concept)

Escher used a similar perspective in his lithograph Three Worlds.
